Road Trip!

Justin had to do some work in Washington, so we made it a family road trip! We were lucky enough to get to stay with Kitty and Steve (aka Oma and Opa). The kids did really well in the car on the 12 hour each way drive. Thank God for portable DVD players! We drove though Idaho, Oregon and past Yakima into Cle Elum, Washington.

Along the way we took in the many beautiful sights. Okay, Idaho was a little boring (yawn), but once we got into Oregon it was so pretty! I loved all the grapes everywhere. Talk about wine country!

We drove all day Thursday. Friday Justin worked while Kitty took the kids and I into Thorp (the BEST vegetables and vintage shopping) and Ellensburg. Saturday we all drove into Seattle and spent the day at Pikes Place and on the waterfront. We had amazing yummy lunch at Cutter's and Sieauna got her calamari (the one thing she kept asking for). We bought lots of wine at the wine shop on the pier and scooped up Copper River salmon, as well as smoked salmon, a variety of cheeses, and some more fruits and veggies to take home for dinner. Sunday Justin worked a bit more while Kitty and I went into Cle Elum and Roslyn. It was nice to have some "just us" time. Thanks Justin, for watching the kids! The boys and kiddies took a long 4-wheeler ride though Kitty and Steve's beautiful property. Sunday night we all relaxed and packed up for the long ride home Monday.

The kids made it until Oregon...

We woke up to this every morning...

My other mom... My baby likes her squid!...

Possibly my most favorite place on earth...

Daddy taught the kids how to shoot the BB gun.

And we saw lots, and lots, and lots of this... And then there was all of this...

It's What I Like About...

This post is more for me, what I was feeling at the time I wrote it.

When I come home from working, or a day out running errands, there are certain areas of my home that I prefer to be in. Areas that bring me peace and calm. Yesterday after work I came home and felt this particular peace at it's fullest. I snapped some shots, to remember if we ever move, what I like about this house.

Grandma's House

1468 E. Hollywood

Last night was the wake of my uncle Jim. It was held at his, and my grandmother's home. My father and his siblings grew up in this home. It's been around since long before I was born. Many, many family get togethers, birthdays, July 4Th barbeque's, Thanksgiving's, Christmas Day, were held at "Grandma's house".

It dawned on me last night that this will probably be the last time I ever visit "Grandma's house". It was a very bitter-sweet moment. I will cherish the memories and miss the past.

RIP Uncle Jim.

My dear uncle and God father, James Young, passed away on Saturday, June 27Th. While it was not unexpected, it was sad none the less. My uncle was a very loving, kind man to me. We had a very special bond that started when my parents named him my God father. I will miss him taking me out on our go-cart in the church parking lots, teaching me to drive it. He sent me birthday cards every year. He always visited with me when I came to visit my grandmother. He gave me the BEST bear hugs every time I saw him, followed by a big kiss...always. He was there for the birth of my children. We had several long conversations on the phone, just to catch up. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Uncle Jim. You were loved and will be missed.

Art Attack 5K Race. 1st Place Baby!

When you take second place last year, there is only one place to go. UP! I raced my hardest and took 1st place for my division. I am so happy (and a little tired).

Justin did amazing as well and took 4Th place for his division. We rock!

Arts Festival 2009 - Night Before the Race

Justin and I went to the Arts Festival last night, our anniversary tradition. We had a really fun time despite the fact that we got rained buckets on! It poured!! I've never seen so many people racing for cover at one time. Oh well, a couple of beers followed by some warm coffee was all we needed. The night finished with a beautiful nature show...check out that rainbow!

Camping at Pineview 2009

We love love love Pineview! It's become a yearly Vigh family tradition. This year darling hubby spoiled us rotten by renting a trailer. Oh how I love camper camping. It's the little things in life, like a potty and shower and beds and dryness, that make me happy ;).

This year as we pulled in we were informed "No beach." "What?" I asked. "No beach, anywhere, the water is too high." The camp host replied. My hopes sank. I was a little upset after all, we come to Pineview for the beach! As soon as we got settled, my wonderful father-in-law headed down to the water and found us just about the only "beach" on the lake. How convenient that it just happened to be right next to our camp spots. He put up a tent and we threw down the camp chairs and guess what? We had beach!!!

When we got there it rained, and hailed, for about 20 minutes. Then the clouds disappeared and we had perfect weather the rest of the trip. Plenty of sunshine, good barbecue, s'mores and family time ensured us the most relaxing vacation.

Justin (as in classic Justin style) brought along the 150 pound Big Green Egg. He cooked up dogs and burgs, steaks, the MOST amazing brisket (cooked in a dutch oven in the Green Egg) and a finale of ribs. YUM-O! I love camp cooking.

Thanks Nana & BePaw. We had an amazing time, once again. Love you guys!
