Jamaica - Day 1

While a little nervous about the hurricane approaching Jamaica, we didn't let it bother us too much. After all, they had not cancelled flights yet!  When we got to Jamaica, our friends Shelly and Jon met us there (they had booked the same trip, a couple days apart from us - but we had two days that overlapped).  We promptly changed into beach attire and walked around.
After seeing this on all the news sites, we were a bit scared!
Vacation starts early! Wine tasting at the airport.

Busy Boy

Alex has been doing all sorts of fun activities with his troop. I'm so happy he loves it! And big BIG news for little man! This year daddy decided he was old enough to go on the annual "men's" fly fishing trip to Flaming Gorge. I'm totally not lying or exaggerating when I say that Alex caught the biggest one. It's true! Just ask any of the other men who weren't to happy about his "beginners luck".

Baby Kail

Summer has custody of her baby nephew, Kailoe. We call him Baby K, Kail, peanut, and William. He's so darn cute. I have to admit I love playing "Auntie" to this cute little guy!

Silver Lake

Summer and I took all the kiddies for a cool crisp hike around Silver Lake. Sadly most of the fall colors have turned already and it was pretty chilly. Still a fun walk and nice to get out a bit!

Bells Canyon

I've lived on Sandy for over 10 years and have never been on this awesome little hike! It's practically in our back yard! Tracy and I decided to take an afternoon adventure up Bells Canyon to a cute little lake. The kids LOVED getting beyond muddy and I really enjoyed the gorgeous fall scenery, the perfect weather and some much needed girl time with Tracy to catch up. Thanks Miss Tracy, for the awesome afternoon. :)

Our School Rocks!

I'm so happy that we choose the school we did for our kiddies.  It's the most amazing school.  In fact, we just won a new title, the highly coveted National Blue Ribbon.  We are one of three schools in Utah to win the award and one of 269 in the nation. Way to go QH!

Q...H........Elementary has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in recognition of its high achievement. The school is among three Utah schools, and 269 nationwide, to receive the honor, announced by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.

"Our nation has no greater responsibility than helping all children realize their full potential," Duncan said in a press release. "Schools honored with the National Blue Ribbon Schools award are committed to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Their work reflects the conviction that every child has promise and that education is the surest pathway to a strong, secure future."

The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of achievement. A recognition ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 12-13, 2012, in Washington, D.C.
