Impromptu Party Night!

It started as an after school playdate at our house and turned into:
...an impromptu "salon night, girls + Justin night", whatever you want to call it! We opened a few bottles of wine, ordered pizza, and Wendee treated us all (kids included) to manicures! How lucky for us!!! What a fun night with friends.

Grandpa Ryan's Sour Dough Start

Justin and I (well let's be honest, Justin really) was given a cup of his grandfather's sour dough start from way back when. This start is older than Justin! We have it sitting in our fridge and take it out on occasion. Well, I was craving some homemade sour dough so I pulled it out last weekend and fed it. Low and behold, it was hungry! I keep it in our bedroom (warmest room in the house) and in three days it had doubled and was all nice and bubbly with lots of live cultures (apparently how it should be). I found some recipes for sour dough rounds and sweet rolls and tried my hand at some baking-DON'T LAUGH! Wouldn't you know it? I made some of the most "awesomest" bread the fam had ever had! Mom said I was now in charge of Thanksgiving and Christmas bread. Kathy said I had the knack of the sour dough. Now really, I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but my friends know I DON'T COOK! So this was a huge feat for me. Anyway, I guess I will be making another batch this weekend. Since it's now being requested daily by a certain little girl who happens to rule my world.

All in the Family

Just dug this picture out of the closet today. It's a few years old, at Jeremy and Amber's wedding, but it's a great reminder of who made me who I am today. I love these people!

7 Miles

The title speaks for itself. I just really need to work on speed. I'm a slow runner, but I have made it past the halfway mark to the half marathon. Okay...time for a shower.

School Carnival

My little water babies aka: dunk artists. This is all they wanted to do...be dunked. This is what they begged for from the moment they heard the school was having a carnival. This is why I stayed up late last night baking eight dozen nut free zucchini brownies (from homemade mind you, not from a box mix). All for these kiddies, who I love with all my heart.

Happy 60th Daddy and Kathy

I wanted to send very special birthday wishes to two very important people in my life. My daddy, and my wonderful mom-in-law, Kathy. They share the exact same birthday. September 15Th, 1948. They were born in the same hospital, a couple of hours apart. Anyway, we had a huge party at our house on Saturday and everyone we loved came to celebrate this awesome occasion. Happy 60Th guys. I love you both with all my heart.

This Is Fun!

This one is called "Braids, Braids and More Braids." Is it normal for a mom to have this much fun doing her daughter's hair, because I am having fun! This one is "The Peacock". She loved it. I steal all these fun ideas from my favorite hair site, "Babes In Hairland."

Sundance Food and Wine Festival

We went with Justin's parents to the Sundance Food and Wine Festival. It was very, very hot, but awesome. The scenery was beautiful and there were so many wonderful wines we wanted to buy-but couldn't (THANKS Utah!). The food was really good and I even got one of the recipes from Tony Caputto's, but only after he noticed I was on my fourth sample and I had to tell him "If you would just give me the recipe, I wouldn't have to keep getting samples!" There was a live band, Fat Paw, who I have liked for awhile so I just had to buy their new CD of course (Tim Wray "The Velvet Ditch"). It was a fun, hot day.

I AM SORE!!!!!!!!!!

Today was my first 6.31 mile road run. I ran to my mom’s house by Brighton, and back. My hip flexors are so tender, I seriously can not lift my leg from the hip. Time for ice and Ibuprofen. Phew…took me 1 hour, 21 minutes. Now I need to work on the time since I can “go the distance“!
