My way talented sister-in-law sent me these scrapbook pages she created from the pictures we snapped this winter when we took the kids ice-skating. Thanks for sharing Jen!

P-R-O-U-D!

We are soooooo proud of Sieauna. Today she was awarded the President's Education Award in Outstanding Academic Achievement.

"Honoring student achievement and hard work is the purpose of the President's Education Awards Program. Since 1983, the program has provided individual recognition from the President and the U.S. Secretary of Education to those students whose outstanding efforts have enabled them to meet challenging standards of excellence."

Along with the award certificate, she received a letter from The White House. Both the letter and the award are signed by President Obama. We are so proud of our little girl. WAY TO GO SIEAUNA!!! WE LOVE YOU!!

Campin' - Kinda

The kids really wanted to go camping this weekend. I forgot to reserve a camping spot for the holiday weekend and it turned out to be really rainy anyway. Super dad came to the rescue and let the kids go "camping" in the backyard. They were so thrilled. I couldn't tell who was more excited, the kids or Justin!

FINALLY!

Ingredients:

  • 1 hour of crying
  • 7 inches of dental floss
  • 50 minutes of motivational cheering
Yields:
One happy but possibly traumatized little boy, two happy exhausted parents and a proud cheerleader-to-be sister who was happy she got to stay up to watch.

Phew...that one was some major drama.

It's A Birthday Birthday Birthday Baby Shower!

We celebrated Jennifer, Jason and Jeremy's birthdays and threw in a surprise baby shower! I hope the expecting couple were surprised. Mom and dad cooked up some bar-be-que and fixins, along with sundaes for dessert...yum!

The older boys had a bottle sucking contest. The competition was to see who could suck the liquid the fastest. Justin and Jeremy won, but only because they totally cheated! They both pulled the nipple off the bottle and drank it. LOSERS!! :)

The funniest part was watching the little ones play "Wipe the ointment on the baby butt." I think the Young girls were a little conflicted as I couldn't draw a face on the baby so I used a picture of my brother (aka, their daddy! Hehehe). They had a fun time though. If you ask them, the best part was the sundaes! Grandpa (as in grandpa tradition) filled the kids mouths with whip cream. They loved it, of course.

Jennifer was glowing and looked beautiful. Despite how she feels, despite contracting the whole time, she looks wonderful and we are so thankful to her for putting up with that last month discomfort to keep our nephew/brother/grandson-to-be, safe and warm.

Won't be long now and I will have a new baby to play with! I get first dibs on the baby toes!! :)

Quail Hollow 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

video
We had such a fun time at the Quail Hollow Fun Run/Walk. It was one mile with LOTS of kids, parents, grandparents, Radio Disney, Mayor Tom Dolan and all sorts of hype! Our school was awarded the Platinum Medal-that means we are very healthy, fitness oriented school with no food or treats as rewards and the kids are required to walk a 1/4 mile everyday! The school was awarded a check from the mayor and my kids even won an award for having one of the highest donations! They scored big time and took home a bike helmet, water bottle, 4 tickets to the Aquarium, a Webkins, a DVD and lots of little stuff. AWESOME! Thanks to our wonderful parents (both sides) who participated for their grand kids.
I am so glad they do this instead of cookie dough fundraiser. I mean don't get me wrong, I love cookie dough as much as the next person, but ugh who needs it and Sis can't eat it anyway. :)
(PS-Yes, Justin is flipping me off in the 2nd picture. Well, not me really, it's a rivalry thing. The race was held at my old stomping grounds, Brighton High (GO BENGALS!) and he hated Brighton because he's Skyline blood. Boo Hoo for him!)

Kentucky Derby 2009

Yet another reason for a party. Yay! My fun friends dressed up for the Derby and we had some yummer appetizers. Justin tried his hand at mint and blackberry juleps. The race was over WAY to fast and none of us won our bets, but it was a great time with friends. I give my personal "fun award" to Holli, Shon and Wendee for dressing up and making it fun.
